Frequently Asked Questions
What is an emote?
An emote is a small graphic file that can be used in streaming chat platforms like Twitch.tv. There are 2 kinds of emotes, Standard (a PNG file) or Animated (a GIF file). A twitch stream channel can have multiple Standard and Animated emotes that the channel streamer makes available to whomever subscribes to their channel. A subscriber can add their available emotes to Twitch chat messages to communicate graphically. A user who is not an Affiliated streamer cannot add emotes to their account. They can only use the ones they get when they sub other channels.
Is this site really all free?
Yes! No money is exchanged. Everything is free. And no spammy advertising with 10+ so-called fake "Download" buttons. What you see is what you get. No strings attached. I don't log your information, I am not selling anything. Take as many emotes as you like. It's all recycled images anyway, I do not claim ownership of anyone's IP. I just make it easy to add to your Twitch stream! Some ask, "Then how do you make money off this site?" and the answer is always "I don't!" This is for you, the twitch community. If you want to give back, please give me a follow at twitch.tv/samnation3000
Can I adjust the display size of the emotes?
Yes, there is a "Size" button on the filtering sub-menu. You can toggle between "Normal Size" and "Compact Size".
Do you take requests?
Yes and no. If you have a simple request for an image or some words, I can do that. Just whisper me at @samnation3000 on Twitch. But if you want complicated animation or brand new characters, you are better off looking at Etsy.com or Fiverr.com for skilled emote artists.
Where are all the political emotes?
Twitch generally frowns on political emotes and they may reject them or suspend the streamer. I try to keep this site mostly out of political or religious debates... mostly.
Where is ____ ? Why aren't they on these pages?
If you want to see an artist or other figures on this site that aren't here already, just whisper me @samnation3000 on Twitch. I am always looking for new suggestions. BUT, there are some artists I will never have on this site, i.e. Kid Rock, Jason Aldeen, Ted Nugent, Kanye West, etc.
Where are the sexy emotes?
Twitch generally frowns on so-called "sexy" emotes and they may reject them or suspend the streamer. I try to keep this site mostly rated PG... mostly.
How do I upload emotes to my Twitch account?
You can only upload emotes if you are an Affiliated Streamer. Non-streamers do not have the ability to have their own emotes. To upload, just go to your Creator Dashboard which is linked in the upper right corner. Then go to Viewer Rewards in the left menu. Click Emotes and that will link you to your emote library where you can see all the emotes you have uploaded. Upload a new emote by clicking the in the upper right corner. You can upload Standard emotes (PNG files) or Animated emotes (GIF files). Click the emote in the Library and assign it to an open spot in the groups on the left. All the emotes on this site are approximately 200x200 pixels. Emotes must be square to be uploaded. And only GIF and PNG files are acceptable. The emotes on this site are ready to go, meeting all the criteria to upload to Twitch.
